Annexation
The annexation of an area north of the city’s limits has been an important part of the City of D’Iberville’s plans for growth for many years.
In 2004 the city annexed approximately 2.5 square miles and within 5 years of annexation, the city had provided the area with complete municipal services. Today, the city already provides water and sewer services to developed areas within its proposed annexation area.
The city has made substantial infrastructure investments, north of our city limits by extending water and sewer service into previously certificated areas and new areas for which the city holds temporary water & sewer service certification including the location of the new D’Iberville High School.
On Thursday, May 20 the ruling by Judge Thomas Zebert, a specially appointed Chancery judge was made public. The proposed annexation area was split between the Cities of Biloxi and D’Iberville with a portion of the area remaining in the county. The trial took 23 days and ended on September 25, 2009. The judge’s ruling was filed on May 25.
The City of D’Iberville is disappointed with the judge’s decision and is assessing the possibility of appealing the ruling.
Below is a map showing the areas given to each city, according to the Judge’s ruling.
Below is the proposed annexation area being pursued by both Biloxi and D’Iberville.
