6-11-2010: Crime Report: Auto Burglary
PRESS RELEASE
Today, Chief of Police Wayne Payne announced the arrests of white male Joseph Eldridge, 18 years of age and Joseph Broussard, 19 years of age; both from Biloxi, MS. Police also arrested a juvenile. Chief Payne said the arrest resulted from the culmination of an investigation into a complaint of an auto burglary.
Investigators initiated the investigation after receiving information a local law enforcement official’s badge had been stolen from an automobile. The car was parked at a local business and left unlocked. The above listed individuals were identified breaking and entering the victim’s vehicle. Once inside, the suspects stole several items including a law enforcement badge.
During the investigation, it was determined the suspects resided in the Woolmarket area. Investigators traveled to the residence and made contact with the suspects. Investigators recovered some of the victim’s property and arrested Broussard and Eldridge. While waiting for a search warrant to be issued, the juvenile, who was also wanted in connection to the crime, approached the residence on foot. Investigators immediately arrested him also. Following the arrest, Broussard and Eldridge’s roommates returned the law enforcement badge to the police department.
