6.10.09: Voyeurism

Chief Wayne Payne announced the arrest of white male, Jeffrey Johnson, 37 years of age, of the D’Iberville community on the charges of Voyeurism.

Chief Payne said the arrest resulted from an investigation initiated when his officers responded to a tanning salon, located on Sangani Blvd., regarding a complaint; a male recording women using his cellular telephone camera. Upon arrival, witnesses identified Johnson and officers immediately arrested him.

Captain Keith Davis of the Criminal Investigations Division said initial investigation suggests this is not the only case Johnson is involved in.  Captain Davis said Investigators are reviewing other pieces of evidence which he is certain will result in more charges against Johnson.

Voyeurism… or “Photographing another without Permission where there is an expectation of Privacy” is more commonly known as a “Peeping Tom” and is against the law, according to Davis. After hearing the facts of the case, Harrison County Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain imposed bond for Johnson at $25,000.00. Johnson was later incarcerated at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center pending an Initial Appearance.
