Crime Report: 11-16-09: Auto Burglary
PRESS RELEASE
D’Iberville Chief of Police Wayne Payne announced the arrest of Marshall Austin Smith, age 18 of Biloxi, MS; charged with 2 counts of auto burglary on November 16, 2009.
Captain Keith Davis of the Criminal Investigations Division said officers responded to Noll Drive in reference to a report of an auto burglary. The victim stated Smith had removed a case containing compact discs from their vehicle with the intent to steal them. The victim stated that when they yelled at Smith, he dropped the compact discs and fled the scene on foot. Police apprehended Smith as he hid behind a residence two blocks away on Beverly Road. Smith was arrested and later confessed to burglarizing a second vehicle on Beverly Road.
Smith was later transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he was incarcerated and held on a $10,000.00 bond imposed by Judge Bruce Strong.
