PRESS RELEASE

On Wednesday, September 23, 2009 D’Iberville Police Chief Wayne Payne announced the D’Iberville police are looking for a masked man who used a butcher knife to rob a liquor store Tuesday night.

Police Capt. Keith Davis said the suspect held up OD Thrift Package Store located at 10207 Boney Avenue around 9:48 p.m.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5-feet-11 to 6-feet-1 and about 215 pounds. Davis said the robber covered his face with a red stocking and wore yellow latex cleaning gloves.

The suspect and a maroon-colored pick up truck were filmed by surveillance cameras coming and going from the liquor store and from a Super 8 hotel. The D’Iberville Police K-9 team tracked the man’s scent to the hotel but lost the scent at the hotel.

“We checked every room of the hotel and couldn’t find him,” Davis said.

No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call police at 396-4252.
