Police give out First Cruisin’ Citation

Lt. Shannon Nobles cranked up the city’s 1951 Ford police car Wednesday, and went hunting for classic cars on the streets of D’Iberville for an early test of our Crusin’ promotion. The old car has its quirks. No power steering. No air conditioner and an a small anchor in the back seat with a sign taped to it that says, “emergency break.” Nobles struggled with the steering but had no problems allerting motorists of his prescence with the 50’s-style, very loud siren. He spotted a couple of locals driving around down for an early start of the weekend. Both were very grateful to get a “ticket” full of coupons. Nobles had to make an early end of the first citation fun when it began to drizzle. The windshield wipers don’t work on the old car. After a stop at Fayard’s to wipe off the windshield he headed back to city hall.

Tomorrow the city should be full of victims and the old car will a chance to show its stuff as officers go out looking for people to cite for having way too much fun in D’Iberville.
