10.19.2008: Possession of a Controlled Substance

 PRESS RELEASE

D’Iberville Chief of Police Wayne Payne announced the arrests of Varick Davis, age 30 of Brundidge, Ala, Christina Schlink age 30 of Biloxi, Miss. and Robert King age 47 of Grand Bay, Ala.

All three were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute Cocaine. Captain Keith Davis of the Criminal Investigations Division said in addition to the possession charge, Varick Davis had active warrants from a previous case of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Schlink was also wanted for felony Malicious Mischief charges from a previous case.

Captain Davis said the case stemmed from a traffic stop on October 19, conducted by Officer Doug Byers of the D’Iberville Police Department conducted on Sangani Boulevard near Lamey Bridge Road. Officer Byers initiated the stop on a red Honda Accord for traffic violations. While conducting routine registration information checks, Officer Byers determined the vehicle had been stolen from Montgomery, Ala. The theft was confirmed and all three occupants were detained for further investigation.

Further investigation yielded approximately 10 grams of “crack cocaine” concealed in the rear passenger seat of the stolen vehicle.

Captain Davis said Varick Davis was also charged with Possession of Stolen Property.

Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain was advised of the aforementioned facts. As a result, Judge Fountain telephonically issued warrants for Varick Davis, Christina Schlink and Robert King. Because of previous bonds status, Judge Fountain imposed “no bond” orders for Varick Davis and Schlink. A $50,000.00 bond was imposed for King.

All three were later transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where they were incarcerated pending an Initial Appearance.
