10.2.2008: Burglary

D’Iberville Chief of Police Wayne Payne announced the arrest of Shquinn Haynes, B/M 18 years of age of Biloxi.

On October 2, 2008, D’Iberville Police Officers responded to the first burglary, reported to the city’s new police department. Within the hour, officers and investigators had identified the person responsible for the crime.

Acting on a report of a stolen vehicle from the business burglarized, officers identified several key pieces of evidence linking the suspect to the burglary and auto theft.

Captain Keith Davis of the Criminal Investigations Division stated the suspect admitted culpability to the crimes during an interrogation. Captain Davis said once the suspect realized that the police department had uncovered a significant amount of evidence, he did not hesitate corroborating the facts.

This arrest marks the first official felony investigation conducted by the D’Iberville Police Department. Chief Payne said he is pleased with the work of his officers. Chief Payne said he has challenged his officers to be pro-active in locating and arresting every suspect who willfully breaks and enters any property in the D’Iberville community.

Haynes was incarcerated in the Harrison County Adult Detention Center under a $50,000.00 bond set by Justice Court Judge Bruce Strong.
