11.22.08: Burglary
D’Iberville Chief of Police Wayne Payne announced the arrest on November 22, 2008 of Michael Caldwell, 24 years of age, of Moss Point, Miss. During an investigation, D’Iberville Police Officers identified Caldwell as the person responsible for stealing a wallet, containing several bank/credit cards and approximately $525 cash, from a female’s purse while patronizing Guitars & Cadillac’s, a night club in D’Iberville.
The victim sat her purse down while dancing and when she returned, she discovered her wallet was missing. Staff of the night club assisted in detaining the suspect, according to Payne.
This case is a reminder of why people should be extra careful with their purses and wallets during this time of the year, said Chief Payne. To protect yourself, if bank cards are missing, citizens should immediately cancel bank cards, even if you can’t determine if the card has been stolen.
The credit cards and some of the victim’s money was recovered in this case and returned to the victim.
