The City of D’Iberville under Mississippi Code 1972, Annotated, Sections 17-1-1 to 17-1-13, is authorized to create a Planning Commission. It is led by appointed citizens and serves all citizens of The City of D’Iberville by providing a vision for improving the quality of life, safety and welfare for the community.
The Planning Commission and it’s staff serve as agents to promote and coordinate the involvement of all citizens within The City of D’Iberville in Comprehensive Planning, public participation, growth management and environmental protection. The Planning Commission monitors the implementation of planning efforts and encourages innovation and creativity in achieving the vision of the City of D’Iberville’s Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinances and Smart Codes.
The purpose for the deadline date is to prepare each application to make packages for all members of the Planning Commission and City staff, which is delivered at the following weeks Planning Commission Public Hearing. This gives, all commissioners and staff, a two-week period to review each application and the staff to prepare letters that have to be sent to all surrounding property owners and legal notices to the newspapers. The letters and legal notices need to be mailed and posted no less than 15 days prior to the next public hearing.
No person shall construct any improvements, including any site work involving clearing, grading, filling, dredging, excavating or alike, nor alter the use of any land or structure, until the Building Director issues a Development Permit for improvements, site work, or construction. No Development Permit is required for normal maintenance and repairs.
